Background
Pont du Fahs Airfield is a military airfield in Tunisia, which was located approximately 6 km west-southwest of El Fahs, and 55 km southwest of Tunis. A Luftwaffe-held airfield prior to the Operation Torch landings, it was the home of the 5.(Pz.)/Schlachtgeschwader 1, flying Henschel Hs 129 ground attack aircraft.
In-game the airfield is taken by Karl Fairbourne and the LRDG. In real life, Pont du Fahs was taken by the Free French Army units of the 9th Regiment of Algerian Shooting-Skirmishers (9e RTA, 9e Régiment de Tirailleurs Algériens) and the 1st Foreign Infantry Task-Force Regiment of the French Foreign Legion (1er REIM, 1er Régiment Étranger d'Infanterie de Marche); this foreign regiment containing many German légionnaires wanted by the Nazi regime.
