SolarPunk is an extremely derivative crafting/survival game. Aside from really comfy movement and a beautiful artistic sensibility, the game does nothing new. At all.
In fact I think it’s a step backwards.
Even with a fix to the gathering vs tool durability margins, there’s nothing compelling in the first tier of gameplay. Even if the ends up being a whole new layer, it hardly feels worth trudging along to get there.
They have a very solid frame of a game but if this is the core loop, it’s not going to hold much attention.
This sounds harsh. I feel bad writing it. But it needs a full overhaul to the progression/crafting/tools.
