Working in the field we all have run into the problem with a soldering gun tip separating and no suitable shops anywhere near-by to buy a replacement.

In this video I show you how to use scrap Romex solid core wire to make a cheap and dirty replacement tip in a pinch.

Weller irons will take just about any size wire up to 12 AWG
The harbor freight irons can take either 14 or 12 AWG wire

Other materials that work:

Steel coat hanger
stainless steel antenna rod
brass rods
copper wire
aluminium wire
