SOMERVILLE | Full Playthrough (No commentary) | Sci-fi adventure game
3Somerville is the new sci-fi puzzle adventure game created by a former co-founder of Playdead, who also made Inside and Limbo. So my anticipation was high. The game reminds you of these classic games, but instead of 2.5D they now have 3D worlds... (although the game is still pretty linear). It has a War of the Worlds kinda story where a big devasting attack on earth happens. You are seperated from your family and begin a long journey to hopefully be reunited with them. The art-style, sound, music and feel of the game is amazing... but it's some of the wonky gameplay and bugs that keep the game from being great. The inventive puzzle design from Inside and Limbo is also a bit lacking here... some later parts don't have any puzzles at all... and the fact that you couldn't play with keyboard and mouse was also a bummer. With a bit more polish and time it could've been a classic.
