The SNES' sound hardware is a lot easier to work with than you may think. I got to fit all the chords as individual channels rather than baked-in samples in the original sequence data, and added cymbals instead of noise.
Also, the SPC700 is better than the GBA's attempt at being a sampler, but you didn't hear that from me. :)
