=== About this Song ===

Even though I've been a Sonic fan since the very first game on Genesis, I never ended up picking up Sonic & Knuckles, even though I was intrigued by the lock-on technology at the time. It wasn't until Sega started making Sonic and Genesis collections that I finally played the game and listened to some of the excellent additional tracks that accompanied the new levels.

Of those new tracks, the theme from Flying Battery Zone was always a standout to me. It reminded me of some of that fantastic energy of Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic 2 that felt so badass and so perfectly "Sonic."

While I loved how energetic and fast-paced the original song was, I decided to slow it down for my Pulse remix. I wanted to keep the song sounding electronic, but I wanted a bit more of a swing and an organic feel to some of the beat and percussion in my version.

As with a lot of the shorter themes I've been covering lately, I decided to add a brief solo section near the end that I felt worked well with the original melody, while adding a bit of variety and interest to the track. The end result has a bit more of a party vibe than the original, but I certainly enjoyed that aspect as it all came together.
