This is a reskin of a game called Puyo Puyo which is a falling block puzzle game, where you have to match little things called Puyos or beans in this case, whilst playing against the Computer or someone else
You play against various Sonic robot characters, until you finally face off against Dr Robotnik. I’ve never really worked out how to get good at this game. I think theres a lot of luck with what appears when. Its similar to columns in a way with the competitive side of things, or Super Street Fighter Puzzle turbo, where its head to head, unlike Tetris on the Gameboy.
This has characters from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, which is basically like Tom and Jerry on crack. This and Sonic Spinball released around the same time, and both feature American Cartoon characters, but notably Sonic himself is absent.
This game was released on the most systems in Europe. So it originally came out on Megadrive/Genesis and then ported to the Portable Game Gear, and then on the Master System in 1994 but only in PAL territories it looks like. The Master System had a weirdly long life, and I know there were games coming out on it in South America until much later too.

Thanks for watching and Reading :) - Jack
