Developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in 1991, "Sonic the Hedgehog" is the first game in the Sonic series.
Playing as the blue hedgehog, we set off to free small animals from robots of dubious design created by the nefarious Dr Ivo Robotnik/Eggman. Featuring a nice soundtrack, colourful visuals, expansive levels and potentially fast gameplay that's just right for sending you into spikes and pits.

I've not played this game before, the closest being Sonic 3D Blast on the PC, so lets get a complete classic done and dusted... uh... eventually. Man, this is kind of hard.
