Sony's New Mysterious Playstation Team | Ubisoft Responds To Leaked Release Date On Their LatestGame
Fans notice interesting details from a former Sony Studio Head's profile, potentially hinting at the work a small San Diego-based team is working on.
Naturally, this new team should not be confused with the existing Sony San Diego studio, which has been responsible for bringing the MLB: The Show franchise to live each year. This first party studio is currently planning a big announcement surrounding the long running franchise next month and shockingly, many fans are anticipating a multi-platform release for the typically Sony exclusive. Back in Dec 2019, the MLB signed a new deal with Sony which included phrasing that mentioned the series would be coming to additional console platforms beyond PlayStation as early as 2021. Even the Xbox Twitter account responded to the news by saying "No more away games." For Sony, it seems San Diego is becoming a hot spot of game development.
Rainbow Six Quarantine 'Leaked' Release Date Is Incorrect
Ubisoft already delayed Rainbow Six Quarantine twice, first in 2019 and again in 2020. Ironically, given the subject matter, the second delay resulted from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This was hardly surprising given the large number of games delayed due to Coronavirus. Among the list 0f delayed titles is another upcoming Ubisoft title, Far Cry 6. According to an October 2020 Ubisoft earnings call, both games would likely have been finished on time if not for COVID related delays.
Ubisoft could delay the game further due to the optics of releasing a game called Quarantine in the middle of a pandemic. That said, some players may find battling a virus cathartic. The mobile game Plague Inc. saw a massive spike in players during the pandemic, so as cynical as it sounds, this may be the perfect time for a new zombie FPS.
