South Park: Snow Day (Xbox Series X) (Xclusive Bro-Op Gaming - Part 11) Road to City Hall
Check out part 11 of my Xclusive Playthrough series featuring the game South Park: Snow Day! This game released on the Xbox One and Xbox Series families of consoles on March 26th, 2024. It was developed by Question Games and published by THQ Nordic.
In this video, the New Kid's attempt to defeat the Barbarian King hits a roadblock after Stan retreats towards South Park City Hall.
South Park: Snow Day is an action adventure game with RPG and roguelike elements that revolves around the characters from the South Park animated series and their continued LARPing adventure. The game actually continues the story from the previous game (South Park: The Stick of Truth and South Park: The Fractured But Whole) where the boys of South Park (Eric Cartman, Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski and Kenny McCormick) continue their LARPing adventure with the New Kid (the kid that recently moved to South Park in the first entry: The Stick of Truth). In this entry, the town is caught in an intense blizzard which gives Eric the idea to bring all of the boys together for another LARPing session after learning that they have a day off from school due to it being a snow day. Eric tells everyone involved in the LARPing session that the rules have been changed due to the New Kid ruining the previous two sessions (which is a way that this game introduced the new style of gameplay - the game went from being a turn-based RPG to an action-adventure game with RPG and roguelike elements). Due to the all of the new rules, all of the boys had a huge argument which caused them to go to "war" with each other and it was up to Eric Cartman, the Grand Wizard and the New Kid to either put a stop to the war or destroy all of the other factions and force them to bow down to the King...of Two Cards!
The gameplay in this game combines the elements of an action adventure game with also three other genres: RPG, roguelike and beat 'em up. The player assumes the role of the New Kid (who they get to fully customize from scratch with various options such as hair, facial features and even base clothing - which can be changed at any point in the game) and is able to freely control the character while moving through South Park. Unfortunately, the game world is quite small and closed off, while quite of the few levels are recycled throughout the game's base campaign.
But other than that, the player is allowed to freely move around in a 3D space using the Left Stick, move the camera around with the Right Stick, interact with objects using the Down D-Pad button, jump and mantle ledges with the A button, attack with the X button, utilize either of the two powers that are assigned with the LB and RB buttons, dodge with the B button, fire the assigned range weapon with the Left Trigger, and using the ultimate power-up (Bulls**t card) with the Y button. Most of the combat will come from utilizing the X button for the main weapon that the player selected, however, when used in tandem with the regular powers, most of the combat encounters will end in your favor.
Finally, with regards to the achievements in this game: South Park: Snow Day includes a total of 32 achievements for a total of 1000 GS. Only a few of achievements are unlocked as part of the story (completing the various chapters of the game) while the remaining achievements are obtained by completing miscellaneous actions such as killing enemies a specific way or acquiring various upgrades. With that being said, none of the achievements are technically missable since the game does include chapter select. Most of the achievements are not really difficult to obtain once you know what to do, however, some of them will require you to replay the various available chapters a few times over. That being said, this is a somewhat easy completion that should take you around 8 to 12 hours.
