The VelocityOne Flight system caught me completely by surprise. When Turtle Beach reached out and asked if I'd like to check it out, I was floored. For one, because I mostly talk about Star Citizen on this channel. But secondly, it was also really nice to be noticed.
That said, in this video I offer my first impressions, including some hands on looks and an unboxing of the unit as a whole, and offer my recommendations as to whether I think this unit is useful for space flight.
Unfortunately, this system is NOT compatible with Star Citizen at the filming of this video, and so, for that reason alone I would not be able to recommend it.
However, if you play Microsoft Flight Simulator or DCS World as well, this is a WONDERFUL tool with many awesome features and it works perfectly out of the box in BOTH those titles.
Personally, I think it does a lot better than most of its competition out there. However, the price is definitely quite steep, and for that ask, Turtle Beach will have to make sure they have a solid launch, with good after-sale support and software support, with additional features that maximize the utility of the product.
In my experience, it's easy to set up, looks great, feels a little plastic-y but overall solid and well built. It works out of the box for the above titles without any further work, however I'd recommend getting the Turtle Beach Control Center (albeit a basic software) to ensure you are running the latest firmware.
