On this day in 1985, Space Shuttle Challenger launched on STS-51-B, carrying Spacelab-3 for the European Space Agency. The flight featured 15 primary experiment packages, 14 of which were declared successful. Interestingly, joining Challenger's 7 crewmembers were also 2 monkeys and 24 rodents.
