Space Trouble (MSX game) | 5 Rounds cleared

“Space Trouble” is video game that was released in 1984 for the MSX platform. The game was developed by HAL Laboratory, Inc., and Panasoft. It is set in an arcade-style, sci-fi/futuristic environment, and incorporates shooter themes. In the game, players control a spaceship navigating through an asteroid field. The spaceship has a limited fuel supply, adding a layer of strategy and resource management to the gameplay. Enemy ships occasionally appear and pursue the player’s spaceship. A unique aspect of “Space Trouble” is that players are not supposed to fire at the enemies, which distinguishes it from traditional shooter games.

At first glance, Space Trouble appears to be a conventional shooter game, but it introduces a unique twist: you’re advised not to shoot! You steer your spacecraft through a field of asteroids, operating on a limited fuel supply. Occasionally, hostile ships appear and attempt to pursue you. You can destroy them, but remember that each shot depletes your fuel slightly. Occasionally, you’ll come across a fuel source, and the game is scattered with power-ups that enhance your “flight record”, which is converted into points upon completing a level. As you advance in the game, the asteroids transform into other hurdles, such as UFOs, mines, and organic blobs that require multiple shots to eliminate. Each enemy ship exhibits distinct movement behaviors, some chase you, some dodge your shots, while others simply move straight ahead. After navigating through four distinct fields, you come across a mother ship. Precise docking with this ship is crucial, as any error can lead to a fatal crash. The ship then teleports you to the subsequent level, which bears a strong resemblance to the initial one.
