Spec Ops: The Line is a 2012 third-person shooter video game developed by Yager Development and published by 2K. It is the tenth title and a reboot of the Spec Ops series, featuring a storyline inspired by media like Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now. The game's setting and story are "physically opposing," causing players to make morally ambiguous decisions. Despite multiple delays, the development team refined the story and increased gameplay pace. The game's soundtrack combines licensed and original music composed by Elia Cmíral. Despite being banned in the United Arab Emirates for depicting Dubai in a state of destruction, Spec Ops: The Line received generally positive reviews, with praise given for the narrative and themes.
