SPEED LIKE NOTHING ELSE! Is Indy 500 Qualifying the BEST Day of the Racing Year?
1,926240mph. What that is in metric I don't know because I can't do the conversions past 200/320. But the Indy 500 is probably the last place outside of NHRA Top Fuel where cars are properly let off the lead.
And they don't look like it but still, they're going at insane speeds. Faster in a straight line than a Formula One car and at the same time able to run at all three types of track: Oval, road and street.
But seeing these cars go at these speeds and then you put it into context, it makes you question whether the Indy 500 is the most insane thing this side of the Isle of Man. And when the pole time is ten miles in a little over two and a half minutes... It really makes you take notice.
