This shows the hard limit for FPS at around 250 FPS. You will hit that ceiling really fast and even before getting to it, other engine parameters will try to avoid you getting to it (But fail).
I am sure this is done to provide a more smooth experience ingame. Very similar to games like Dishonored with their 60 fps max, Death Loop and others that have an FPS range or range cap to control things like game speed, timing of certains things and more.
