You wake up and realise that you are death itself – while a little piggy commands you around, telling you what to do…? Uh, what the heck happened?!
Explore a mysterious world where nothing seems to be as it should be! What is this mysterious disease that is spreading throughout the world? Why can't the dying be redeemed? And, who were you before waking up in this place?
Together with the pig’s help you cross the country and resolve all these questions.
In SPINDLE you'll explore classic puzzle dungeons, search for your lost abilities, fight tricky bosses, come across different villages and help the villagers there from suffering. And the best of all: The Pig is playable, too!
Our Mission
We grew up with the NES and SNES and fell in love with the classics. With Spindle we would like to create a game that follows the essence of the games of the old times: A living world that tells an exciting story, packed with interesting NPCs, stories, and secrets. It was important to us to pack this whole thing into a 10 to 12 hour-long adventure.
We love the classic 2D top-down Action-Adventure games of the 16bit era and their dungeons: With lovely artwork, simple but effective mechanics we would like to present nostalgic but modern gaming experiences with Spindle.
As Death, you always have your scythe with you. But you can only harm living beings like bats, bushes, or other organic tissue. For opponents made of stone or ancient robots, you have to find another way for overcoming them. What would happen if you as a Pig sucked in some stones and shot them at your opponents?
Little by little you will regain your lost abilities of Death, which are scattered across the land. With these, you will in turn be able to explore more of the world. We do not explicitly equip items, but instead, integrate all skills so that you have them available at all times.
We have also hidden some secret enemies in the game (even in the demo ), which you can lure out with mini-games, among other things. Or you pass the time at the Pig race (stretch goal).
Dungeons and Bosses
Each dungeon will have a unique quirk. Of course, you need your newly acquired skills for each boss in order to defeat him. Everyone loves that. We do as well! The dungeon in the demo will be just the tutorial dungeon in the game :) the real main dungeon will be bigger and more tricky.
Explore the world
The world of Spindle is divided into 5 different regions. You will roam through deep forests, climb mountain peaks, wade in deep snow, and encounter disgusting tumors that burden the world. Every place you come across tells its own special story.
Side Quests
There are also entertaining side quests to complete. Why don’t you relax from your adventure? If you are careful to the left and right of your path, you can take part in small mini-games such as fishing, a secret casino, or the pig race. However, how many of them will make it into the game, depends on the stretch goals.
