When watching the version of the movie with makers' commentary (which I can't upload to YouTube for copyright reasons) I noticed that the makers referred to the falling star (from the falling star scene where white men are first introduced) to be interpretable as an UFO. As in, the falling star falls in the direction of the humans' camp, making the humans "aliens" metaphorically. Aliens in the horses' land/the white man being alien to America.

If not for their commentary, I would have never noticed this easteregg.
