Disclaimer: This video is only a proof-of-concept and does not accurately reflect Uncharted 4's gameplay as of the time of this video's publication. The audio in this video has been hand-edited to deliver a semi-accurate representation of what a Quick Time Event (QTE) might look like with accessibility for gamers without sight factored in to the design process.
As the title states, this video contains spoilers for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. If you haven't played the game yet, I'd suggest you do so and come back and watch this video.
As a gamer without sight, I've often wondered what an accessible QTE might look like in practice. Given this final boss of Uncharted 4 is essentially one long QTE sequence, I thought I'd use footage from it to create a mock-up of just how such a sequence might work with additional audio cues.
If you're wondering why the audio prompts say "hold 2" instead of "tap 2" or similar, it's because Uncharted 4 actually includes an option for you to hold the buttons instead of repeatedly tap them. I just wanted to clarify the reasoning here as to why there's a discrepancy, for anyone who might be confused.
Here's a short piece on the process of putting this concept together with the assistance of JasmineLea, without whose captured footage, generosity and enthusiasm this collaboration and resulting video wouldn't have happened:

In no way am I trying to say that this is the only way game developers should implement QTE accessibility. I am only trying to start the discussion off as to how developers can expand the horizons of what is possible regarding game complexity and accessibility of mainstream videogames as a whole from their current state.
