1SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is a game developed by Heavy Iron Studios and published by THQ in 2003 for the GameCube, PS2, and Xbox. This is the 3D platformer that Purple Lamp Studios remastered in 2020 on the Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Steam, while the old Windows version was a minigame compilation and the GBA was a 2D platformer which was linear, unlike the console version.
In this game, Plankton creates a machine called the Duplicatotron 3000, which creates an army of robots to steal the Krabby Patty formula. Unfortunately, he had a switch set incorrectly, and the robots don't obey him. The robots then seize control of the Chum Bucket and wreak havoc in Bikini Bottom. It's up to SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy to save the day and the town.
In 3D platformer fashion, there are many collectibles to collect, like golden spatulas, shiny objects, and Patrick's socks. There is also combat for players to engage in. SpongeBob can blow bubbles to perform special attacks, and everyone has access to a basic moveset. The player can play as SpongeBob in every level, and as either Patrick or Sandy, depending on the level.
