S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 - Heart of Chornobyl #704: Zombies At Pontoon Depot
I went to the large building and compound, that I had avoided going to on Wild Island. I knew if the Noontide were not using it, there had to be a reason and, in the Zone, the reason was usually mutants. I found out the location was called the Pontoon Depot, and when I arrived, I found the inside compound full of Zombified Stalkers.
After I killed the Zombies, I was hit with something. I turned and looked back toward the main building and saw a slight distortion floating by the door. It was a Poltergeist. One of the toughest creatures to kill in the Zone. I moved all around the compound, ducking behind walls and the large pontoons. I didn't feel like now was the time for a long fight. I looped around and went back to loot the Zombies and grabbed all the dropped weapons and left and returned to the Noontide base. I didn't have a Trader who would buy anything but I could get them repaired and store them in my personal stash for selling at a later time.
There were still a few hours of daylight left, so I ran back to the Pontoon Depot, with more ammo for my Fora, to do battle with the Poltergeist. I was shooting at it from the outside and I ran back inside the main building, but it was hard to track. When it was hit, it would put up a shield of small rocks. I was back outside shooting at it, when the skies darkened and then the winds started blowing, there was lightning flashing, and I realized it was an oncoming Emission.
My PDA showed me some shelter location that did not exist above ground, and I wasn't going to rush and try to find some cave. I ran as fast as I could to the south, straight for the Scientist's Bunker. After the Emission passed, I found three dead Monolith outside. I don't know why they were unable to seek shelter or if they thought they still had the protection of being former Monolith. I returned to the Noontide base for the rest of the night.
