Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

This is the game that your old Trekkie friends know and love while your new Trekkie friends were more for Bridge Commander, and your youngest Trekkie friends are for Bridge Crew. But this, this is where it all truly began. An updated modernized ( for 1997 ) version of Star Trek Starfleet Academy - Starship Bridge Simulator.

While you only have one character as 'the one you are' unlike the two before, you have all your bridge crew here. Your trusty Vulcan, the awesome Andorian, the several humans. I think the only one missing is the part-Orion one. Full Motion Video cutscene featuring the likes of William Shatner as the legendary Captain James Tiberius Kirk himself, the ever-present and fantastic George Takei in the role of Captain Hikaru Sulu, and everyone's favorite Russkie, Walter Koenig as Commander Pavel Chekov.

The game had an expansion called Chekov's Lost Missions. People over on the GOG forums have figured out how to add them to the re-releases of Starfleet Academy as they are not included normally.

Unfortunately this game does not want to play ball nicely with my system. This is the best I managed to record it. The first time I recorded it resulted in only a black screen, which is unfortunate because the simulated battle against the Bird of Prey was long, intense, and ended with me blasting one of it's wings off which allowed me to win that battle. The game glitches a lot and displays graphical artefacts on the screen. I just don't know how to fix that sadly.

Despite that, it is a great game. The theme song, is outstandingly beautiful. It lodges itself into your heart and you just feel... Good! That sense of that the future is good.

I cannot recommend this game enough for Star Trek fans.
