So, I managed to win a few times on Naboo in my first couple of goes in Co op, but the AI here seems to put up much more of a fight than in some of the other maps. In this go the team I was playing with ultimately got defeated, but it was still great fun, hence why the upload.

So it seems someone over at DICE has been listening to my moans about multiplayer… BF2’s new Co op mode lets you team up with 3 other human players and take on waves of AI enemies (including AI heroes!) whilst capturing areas on the map and moving on. Best of all though is that those AI kills count towards your multiplayer milestones, more-or-less what I suggested around the 07:30 mark in my video. Holy. Shit. Co-op is AWESOME. With my AI kills counting towards milestones (and the triple XP event last weekend), I made more progress in a couple of hours of play than I normally would’ve in months (in terms of weapon unlocks, levelling up characters, gaining skill points). I've managed to level up all my standard class characters, and a few of the special ones like the enforcer, past level 35, so I've been able to hook all of them up with epic cards now. I've also managed to complete a ton of milestones to unlock new weapons and add-ons for all the classes now, stuff that would literally have taken me yeas if not months in regular multi-player. Awesome!

On top of that, these games of Co op were probably the most fun I've ever had in the game, they got properly chaotic, with absolute carnage at the defence points with properly aggressive AI. I played a bit of Galactic Assault at the weekend initially, to try and take advantage of the Triple XP, before I realised that AI kills and milestones in Co op properly counted towards Multiplayer milestones and unlocks, at which point I turned into a kid in a candy store...
Playing through Galactic Assault again really reminded me so much of why I just gave up playing it in the first place and just how much of a contrast Co op is (and by extension the single player only Instant Action mode). Now, by my own admission, I'm terrible at FPS games...

Galactic Assault: Spend a couple of minutes wondering around map not seeing any other players, trying to enjoy it because it's Star Wars, wondering how the chuffin' heck the top players are on 10 kills already when I haven't even seen another player, find another player, instantly get killed by that player... Repeat the whole process again and again. Get more and more frustrated that I've died about 30 times, finish level with perhaps 2-4 kills, accept fact that I'm never going to unlock anything in this game or ever play as a hero in the main GA mode...

Co op: Dive straight into the action with a bunch of strangers who AREN'T trying to kill you, immediately rack up lots of kills, feel like a chuffin' boss whilst you're doing it, actually enjoy the game, die, but then get a chance to actually use a hero or special character, enjoy game even more! Get straight back into the action, keep taking down waves and waves of smart AI characters, get to the end of the round, realise how much stuff I've achieved towards milestones, smile intensely. Man, I love it.

Fighting AI heroes in Co op and Instant Action is actually FUN, I see them and relish the challenge of taking them down. When you're playing as a regular character in GA and I see a player controlled enemy Hero I just groan, knowing that in 2 seconds I'll be insta-killed and just fodder for that person’s kill tally
.
Bravo Dice! You've made me properly love the game for the first time since buying it.
(And on the plus side though, I did finally get to play a GA game on Hoth for the first ever time this weekend).
We just need some OT maps and the ability to play as ALL the characters in there now....
