Now that JJ Abrams has been confirmed as director on Star Wars Episode 9, Disney has shifted release dates for a number of films, including Episode 9 in order to accommodate his hiring. The movie was set for a May 29, 2019 release but now, the ninth Star Wars film in the Skywalker Saga will arrive in theaters on December 20, 2019.

While Disney’s biggest announcement yesterday involved moving Star Wars from May 2019 to December 2019, the Mouse House also officially dated a number of other major studio releases we can expect to see over the next few years. The most notable changes include Aladdin now taking on the empty Star Wars date of May 24th, 2019 and the Untitled Christopher Robin Project that stars Ewan McGregor moving to August 3rd, 2018;

BUY OR SELL

A24 has released the first, full trailer for The Disaster Artist. Directed by James Franco and written by (500) Days of Summer’s Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the film follows the making of Tommy Wiseau’s The Room, the infamous cult film that’s often cited as one of the worst movies ever made.

Paramount Pictures has released the first teaser for Downsizing. The upcoming dramedy takes place in a world where Norwegian scientists have solved overpopulation by shrinking people down to the size of action figures. With the promise of great wealth and a new life, a married couple decides they want to give the irreversible process a go.

THR reports that the surprise hit of the summer, 47 Meters Down, is getting a sequel entitled - you guessed it - 48 Meters Down. Director Johannes Roberts returns to write and direct the project, in a story set in Brazil about a group of girls who find some hidden underwater ruins inhabited by Great White Sharks. There’s no word on a production start or release date.
