In this tutorial, I show you how to start a YouTube Gaming Channel to be a fully-fledged YouTuber. YouTube Gaming is a feature that will be releasing on YouTube very soon and with it just around the corner, I want to explain the basics of setting up a YouTube Channel.
You set up your channel taking the following steps:
1) 00:05 Register a YouTube account - you can rename the title shown on the page via Google+ but you can not change the link name. For example even though the new channel I setup is https://www.youtube.com/user/ZranX, I am able to rename the title to ZranX Gaming.
2) 02:20 Go to the About section of your YouTube channel and put a Channel Description explaining what type of videos you will be uploading.
3) 03:35 Add a business email address. I recommend using a non-personal email address to avoid notifications of new subscribers and random notifications.
4) 04:18 Set which country you are in.
5) 04:45 Add featured channels of YouTubers you would like, preferably related to the same content you are also producing.
6) 06:00 Enable Browse mode to show a useful layout for your videos for all visitors of your page.
7) 06:40 Add a Channel Art ideally sized 2560x1440 and a Channel Avatar which is Square Perspective, more high resolution the better but remember the size of it on the page.
8) 08:10 Use recording software such as Open Broadcaster Software to record your video. It works extremely well and is 100% free and open source. It also encodes videos into mp4 format which doesn't take much space. I show all the configurations I use. You can download OBS here: https://obsproject.com/.
9) 17:15 Use free video encoders such as Freemake https://www.freemake.com or Handbrake https://handbrake.fr/. I prefer the paid version of Freemake as its only $9.99, it allows you to merge videos together, cut bits out of each section, encode using CUDA and DVXA and also takes advantage of multi-core CPU's to speed upconversion. 10) 23:00 Write detailed descriptions, put a lot of relevant tags on the video.
11) 26:20 Add videos to playlists so they are easier to keep organised together, which is useful for the future.
12) 27:40 You can set a video to Private and save your changes before you publish if you need to come back to it later.
13) 28:00 Set Upload Defaults so you can publish future videos even faster.
14) 31:00 Set channel keywords so it is easier for viewers to find your YouTube channel.
15) 32:00 Enable Monetization - you need to qualify for the YouTube Partner Program.
16) 34:00 Enable Longer videos by verifying your phone number which allows you to upload videos longer than 15 minutes.
17) 34:30 Link an Adsense account to your channel so you can collect money that is generated by your videos that have Monetization enabled.
18) 40:15 Put a Custom Thumbnail on top of videos to make it more likely for people to click them.
