I go through the process of upgrading the SSD in the Steam Deck and make the mistakes for you so you have the smoothest experience possible.

You will need:
Philips Size 0 screw driver
A plastic prying tool (NOT METAL)
A tray to hold the screws
SSD 2230 single sided chips (usually ones labeled to work with Microsoft Surface)
SD Card or Flash drive with USBC to USBA adapter flashed with SteamOS 3 Image:
