http://blastfox.us/rise-of-the-redshirt/ So, what are my impressions of the Odyssey? Read on below!

The free variant of the Odyssey is an absolutely gorgeous ship, with a slightly lackluster BOFF station setup. That the ensign universal console was taken away had left me with a sour mood, and to be honest, I went into this wondering if I was going to be able to effectively use this ship. I was pleasantly surprised at how much versatility had been retained despite the last minute nerfing the ship had recieved.

But now my concerns swing the other way. From the Shakedown mission, it can be assumed that the C-Store version will not only have that universal BOFF slot, but also the Science slot that had replaced it in the free version. So that means the CS version will have 1 Cmdr. Engineering Slot, 1 Lt. Tactical Slot, 1 Lt. Science Slot, 1 Ens. Science Slot, 1 Universal Lt.Cmdr Slot, and 1 Universal Ens. Slot. That would be in addition to the ability to use Saucer Separation and an Auxiliary craft. That's some serious shit there, I can imagine the fur flying when the C-Store version is released.

Oh I'll still buy it. With Dilithium, of course. But I'll feel really bad about myself, honest. There could be tears.

Hopefully it will come with a new bridge, just like the free version does. The Odyssey bridge is my one bit criticism of this ship, it's ridiculously huge. I will admit that it's very good looking, though, and the LCARS graphics are stunning, especially the Odyssey Master Systems Display. I will also admit that I spent a bit too much time obsessing over it in the video (Part 3).

As for the question of maneuverability: The turning rate is among the lowest of the Federation Cruisers, but all this time flying a Galaxy Retrofit has granted me the experience to mitigate that through the use of abilities, equipment, and sheer piloting skill. Just like the Galaxy-R, the maneuverability is there, if you know how to coax it out.

So, the question is, will I be using the Odyssey now? The answer is no, at least not yet. I'm inexperienced with science skills, and I'd need some more hands on practice with this ship before I'm ready for primetime with her. I'd also like to take some time to see what works on the Odyssey in terms of consoles and Ship Components. Maybe see if I can eke out a little more performance. I was a Raven long before I was a Starfleet Officer, after all, that's how we do stuff.

I'll probably need to find something to replace the Field Generator with, as according to Cryptic dev posts regarding the console, the Field Generator is likely going to be near useless for the purposes of Shield HP soon. Fantastic.

As for the Klingon Flagship, I didn't have nearly as much time with it as I did the Odyssey, but it was abundantly clear that the Bortas is going to require some very specific build choices, as it turns incredibly slowly and seemed to lack survivability. Mind you I was flying one with a character woefully underleveled, unprepared, unspecced, and in general out of his comfort zone in such a massive, slow behemoth.

So those are my thoughts on both, thanks for watching the videos and reading, see you next week for more Rise Of The Redshirt!
