Nate, Sam, and Sully are on a quest to find a treasure hoard located in one of twelve towers in King's Bay. Despite Shoreline getting there first, a marking on a coin narrows the search to two towers. Nate and Sully go to one tower while Sam goes to the other, and it turns out that Nate and Sully's tower is the correct one. After overcoming various challenges, Nate realizes where the treasure is located. However, before he can tell Sam, he is contacted by Rafe who reveals that he has been tracking them using their phones' GPS and tries to convince Nate to give up the search. Nate refuses and rescues Sam from Rafe's men. Back at their hotel, Nate and Sam explain to Sully that the clues point to Libertalia, a remote pirate colony founded by Avery and other captains. Before they can set out, Nate is confronted by Elena who is angry that he did not tell her about his quest. When Nate refuses to give up the quest to go after her, Sully goes instead. Left alone, Nate and Sam set out for Libertalia, following more clues on several remote islands that eventually lead them to the correct one. Returning to where their journey began, Nate washes up on the shore of the island and, after several battles with Shoreline, finds Sam. Together, they make it to Libertalia, where they find evidence of a civil war between the Founders and the colonists due to the Founders keeping all the gold for themselves.
