Games like Max Payne introduced us to bullet time in gaming. Max Payne was, admittedly, heavily influenced by John Woo movies so it makes sense that John Woo would help in the creation of a game like Stranglehold which stars Chow Yun Fat, and is a sequel to the movie Hard Boiled.

Stranglehold is a stylistic 3rd person shooter that uses bullet time, and a lot of interactive environmental objects in the environments to recreate the experience of playing a Hong Kong action thriller movie. The gunplay is thrilling, the bullet time effects are intuitive and feel great to use, and the game overall is a good game. It's really fun to shoot an air conditioner unit above an enemy's head and have it crash down on top of them. The game can get repetitive in nature, but overall, this game is worth playing.

It did at one time have an online deathmatch, but I didn't have the chance to ever play this game online.
