After polishing and releasing the original 2006-2008 Super Freaks platformers online, I've decided to turn my attention to some of my other old stuff. The fabled Strato-Scruffy is finally back in progress after like...14 years. Jeez! Nothing hits you like a reminder about how old you are.
While I have plans to fully remake the game with a gameplay style closer to Fantasy Zone (and in the modern Super Freaks universe), this will be the 2009 game finished as intended, though not without a few bonus things like 16:9 widescreen and 60fps. IMO, the art style has actually aged well, especially with 60fps. I'll also be rebalancing a few things here and there and overhauling a few levels that I felt were a bit too bleh. Don't expect an amazing game when this is done, as this is a goofy 2009 game with horrible spaghetti code--this is more a fun museum piece.
And yeah, judging by that intro dialogue? This is FIRMLY 2009. No one references shoop-da-whoop anymore...I kinda miss when they did though.
At this time, SuperFreaksDev has 2,285 views for I Wanna Be the Guy spread across 30 videos. The game makes up 4 hours of published video on his channel, roughly 6.85% of I Wanna Be the Guy content that SuperFreaksDev has uploaded to YouTube.
