So this is technically part 3 to my Street Fighter anthology and in this one I wanted to focus on the original home conversions of Street Fighter 2 and how they compared to the arcade version. I would have liked to have done that in my first SF video but due to the 15 minute video limit of a regular YouTube user, I couldn't.

I think all the home versions are great and each have their good points and not so good points when compared to each other (well, apart from the Gameboy version, which is just terrible). One thing I don't think the video gets across from the original video capture footage though (once the original video file has been rendered and lost a bit of detail and framerate) is how pixelated all the home versions look compared to the actual arcade version. In the small split-screen videos the Megadrive version seems to come out worse, but it's actually quite detailed when you see it close up. It also seems to have larger borders at the top and bottom of the screen in the four way split. When I put it head-to-head against the SNES version later in the video, I've actually made the background behind the videos a dark blue rather than black, so you can see where the edges of the screen end for each version and I don't think there's much difference border-wise between the two. Special mention must go to the PC Engine version - it looks amazingly good for an 8-bit machine and I think, surprisingly, the sampled speech seems better than the MD version of Special Champion Edition.

Additionally, I wanted to feature some of the extra content that was in the PSP (and to a slightly lesser extent the GBA) version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 - namely the extra characters that were included. There were four in the PSP version, Eagle (from SF1), Maki (from Final Fight 2 - not featured in the video due to running time constraints), Yun (From Street Fighter 3) and Ingrid (an all new character). The first three also feature in the GBA version, but Ingrid is PSP only.

I also, in my first video, wanted to have a look at some of the additional, weirder, Capcom crossovers, but again was not able to due to video time limit constraints, so I have a (very quick) look at a couple at the end here. Again, due to time constraints, I haven't featured any footage of the home versions of Super Street Fighter 2 (I did show some of the arcade and Dreamcast versions in my first Street Fighter video though) or looked at any of the home computer versions of Street Fighter 2. Also, there is an NES version of SF2 as well, but it's technically a bootleg and not officially sanctioned, so I didn't include it. There's probably some obscure extra console versions I've missed out somewhere as well...

Oh, and Street Fighter 2 Turbo Beta for the Megadrive, you might ask, what's the deal with that? You can find out more at the following link:

It's weird, because in some ways I think it actually looks and sounds better than the proper final version of Special Champion Edition and in some it doesn't.
