Theres a bunch of stuff to talk about, but first I have to explain some things.

This is a community mod to "improve" or "fix" Streets of Rage 4 because in the eyes of many, v08 killed it. Now, I am not one that holds that opinion. Enemies jabbing you out of the air? Well uh, you're in the air and the jab came into contact with you. I fail to see the issue. Enemy AI can be annoying but in this mod, the AI is so goddamn boring. The enemies are. So. Slow. It doesn't feel like Mania+ at all. Boss reinforcements are gone. Because uhhhh I guess it's a v08 thing and v08 is bad. I have strongly suspected that a lot of the complaints come from people that don't want to actually fight enemies in SOR4. They don't want to fight enemies, they just want punching bags that passively, conveniently line up into their attacks repeatedly. They just want enemies to be more like obstacles that you can have a perfect setup for every time. There is no other way to explain the boss helpers being gone. Sure, maybe you think the v08 enemies can be annoying, but boss buddies? Just figure out a different setup and deal with it. It just takes some time to adjust. Defense special loops are an issue, I agree. It's a bad thing. But it's the natural conclusion of the people in charge of the balance paying too much attention to the huge amounts of people on discord or wherever that don't care about balance or whatsoever that just want everything to be insanely buffed and no nerfs. Like, it's so obvious. Look at the history of the characters from v04 and v08 and you can see how characters keep getting stronger and stronger while a bunch of enemies have been toned down, some more than once. Not that some of these enemy nerfs were unwarranted, mind you. But yeah, this is what happens when you buff stuff over and over again with only a paltry few nerfs in exchange. This is why the hardcore playerbase's opinion should absolutely not be taken as gospel. Like, "No nerfs only buffs" is such a common mentality in so many playerbases across different games and it's as stupid here as it is in Dead Cells or Nioh or whatever. And really, I'm pretty sure SOR4 is easier in this Reignited thing because characters have gotten expanded things in general while enemies are slow as shit and bosses don't have their helpers anymore.

Anyway, as for the mod itself. There's a bunch of stuff. Honestly, Chopper is like, why on earth would anyone use Split Fangs? Like, they gave it goddamn ground bounce? Sure, whatever. Howl Fang, I still think Sword Smash is better but I doubt I'm utilizing it that well. Air Chopper is neat. No reason to use Slash Kick before and now there's like, negative reason to use it. Nice. Like, it kinda seems like all the vanilla moves are better except for Howl Fang maybe. Back throw change is annoying. It's like, it took awhile to get used to the v08 back throw, then it's like okay now get used to this again. Being able to boot over and over is cool I guess. Doing that while using Chopper up against enemies near a wall feels like I'm playing some weird fusion of v04 and v05/v07 Adam. The jab combo ender projectile thing was removed which is a shame. there's plenty other things I didn't mention or elaborate on like the dash cancels because this has gone on for long enough.

Would've done a lot better if I used the moves I was familiar with but that's not the point. Might give it another try some time. Maybe. I really want to try some stuff with Howl Fang mainly. Get the wall bounce then Air Chopper then stuff afterwards.
