Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition is a real-time strategy video game developed by Firefly Studios and originally published by Gathering of Developers in 2002. The footage in this video was recorded using the Definitive Edition, released in 2025, although the original Extreme Trail mode first appeared in 2008. Set during the Crusades, the game pits players against a series of missions, challenging computer-controlled opponents. The Extreme Trail takes the core experience of the original game and intensifies it — introducing special abilities and dramatically increasing enemy troop numbers. This results in a much faster-paced and more extreme version of the classic gameplay.
NoirStation Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ - I used to be skeptical about the Extreme Trail — I thought it would be too much. But with the Definitive Edition I gave it a try, and it completely refreshed my love for Stronghold Crusader, one of my all-time favourite games. A true classic that keeps on giving, without ever disappointing.
