Yesterday, Collider’s own Adam Chitwood released an extensive report from the set of Suicide Squad, detailing a ton of new information about what we can expect from the David Ayer directed movie. The biggest news out of the visit had to do with the appearance of Ben Affleck’s Batman in the movie. In the interview Ayer summed it up, explaining that Suicide Squad is something like a Batman movie from the villains’ point of view.
When Warner Bros. announced their Comic-Con film lineup, there was a quiet Easter Egg hidden within: a confirmation of the screenwriters for the upcoming Wonder Woman film. Originally, there were five writers brought in to give treatments for the story, with Jason Fuchs winning that bid (and IMDB still reporting him as the screenwriter). Now, thanks to WB’s own Comic Con press release, we know that Wonder Woman was in fact penned by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns.
Having already filled its upcoming monster universe with A-list talent including Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Russell Crowe, Universal is now eyeing another star to revive a famous character. According to a report from Variety, Javier Bardem is in talks to star as Frankenstein in Universal’s classic monster movie series. It’s currently unknown which monster feature Bardem will first appear in.
Back in April, the first teaser poster for Kingsman: The Golden Circle hinted at the return of Colin Firth’s secret agent Harry Hart with the character’s signature glasses over a text that read, “Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” Now a new snapshot from the set via co-star Pedro Pascale’s Instagram seems to reveal that Colin Firth’s Harry will be in the movie. No other information is provided.
Taking to his Instagram account yesterday, the Rock dropped a huge hint about his Fast 8 character Hobbs in a new a new set photo of himself wearing a familiar orange jumpsuit and handcuffs in a prison setting. Johnson wrote the same caption for the new photo as he did for another set photo of Hobbs that he shared a couple of weeks ago: “The Iceman cometh. And don’t f—eth around.”
In the wake of The Hateful Eight release, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino recently made an appearance at the Jerusalem Film Festival where he addressed his long-promised retirement and revealed who he thinks is the best character he’s ever written in the process. For some time now, Tarantino has been saying that after his 10th film, he’s going to retire from moviemaking and switch gears to writing film criticism and books. Which means he only has two movies left if he is to be believed.
