Suikoden 1 Remastered - How to find all Recruitable Characters

In Suikoden there's a total of 108 characters that can join your army (including your hero). Of these, many join automatically through story events but the bulk of them have to be sought out and manually recruited. Some will join instantly, others will want a task performed or need your castle to be at a certain level, etc
I've tried to group these by area and natural story progression. I would recommend trying to recruit as early as possible to increase the level of your castle and make sure you don't progress too far into the final battles that you lock yourself out of missing someone.
The two easiest characters to miss in my experience are Leon Silverberg and Mace. Both require you to have a Level 4 Castle (90+ characters recruited) - so you'll only have a chance at them late in the game - and both have a specific set of requirements that if you wait too long become unobtainable. I highly recommend making frequent saves so you can backtrack if needed
