Super Castlevania IV - No Death Playthrough (no commentary)
4This is a full playthrough of 'Super Castlevania IV' where I complete the game without dying. It took two weeks of pratice to get this done. I was practicing each stage using save states and once I felt ready, I was trying a full run from the beginning of the game and try to get as far as I could. I mastered the first half of the game quickly, but it took a lot more time and effort to get good with the second half of the game.

For my recording, I emulated the US version of the game with bsnes-hd beta 10.6. This bsnes fork allows for higher quality rendering of all the 'Mode 7' effects in the game. The ROM I used was also patched with FastROM version 1.1 by Vitor Vilela. FastROM removes most of the slowdown that was present in the game. My recording is of the highest possible quality. It was recorded in 1080p at 60 fps with the game's correct aspect ratio of 8:7 using the most accurate emulator possible and high bitrate encoding.
The ROM was also patched with the 'Uncensored' hack which changes the following (but not limited to): All of the crosses in both backgrounds, coffins, gravestones, etc have been restored. The green goop has been ditched in favor of the blood in level 8-1-1 and 8-1-2. The Stained Glass from the Continue screen has been restored to its Japanese counterpart sprites. The Font has been modified to match that of the Japanese release as well. The Stage Select screen has been completely reworked and translated.
