During my first overnight job, I played Super Contra for 2 months straight during my downtime. Remembered playing this in the arcades back in '89-'90 but was terrible at it. This and the other arcade Konami '10-minute games', as I call them, were perfect for my job situation. Eventually got to the point where I was able to clear the game (finally) on a single credit. Of course, I had to do better than that ;). Discovered the undocumented feature in MAME that lets you record replays. Since then, every single run I recorded a reply for until on Nov 11th 2003 I did it at last. I hooked my home PC up to a DVD recorder and used the replay file to make a DVD. This video is a capture of that DVD, but not a direct capture. Sorry about the really bad video quality, but the original wasn't that great plus what you're seeing is really a vhs recording of the dvd, then captured at 320x240. YT seemed to not like 320x240 as the final render looks quite washed out. The sound was also very low, so I used WMM to increase the volume, but as you can hear the quiet parts have very noticable noise. Will probably make a replacement...

There are a couple funny things you can do in the game and I wanted to make sure they got in. The first is sliding down the slope in stage 1 which looks funny while you're kneeling. The second is shooting "backwards" while getting out of the water in stage 3. Would love to remake this in the future with two-player co-op...
