It is undeniable how centric Super Mario 64 is to 3D game design. For platformers especially, but all 3D adventure games, Super Mario 64 was pivotal to showing developers how to handle level design and camera controls in a 3D space. While I sometimes struggle to appreciate its slippery controls, I still enjoy returning to it from time to time, and am very grateful for its revolutionary place in gaming history.
