This challenge was posted on GameFAQs, and I'm attempting it because I can't really record anything with live commentary, and this is a decent excuse for me to at least upload SOMETHING. If you're really tired of this game, then I'm sorry. I'm kinda tired of it too, but meh.

So here's the rules for this challenge. There's a ton of them, and many are really arbitrary. I did not make these up. The original topic with rules and discussion can be found here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=198848&topic=50593361

- No collecting or producing coins
- No collecting or activating 1-ups
- You can't activate any "hidden numbers" unless there's 4 of them from chests. Sets of 5 are banned.
- No pressing any switches
- No use of cannons
- No use of teleport spots
- You can't lose your cap
- No use of special caps except the end cutscene
- No opening boxes unless a star is inside
- You can't die
- You can't take damage except from high falls. Losing air underwater doesn't count as taking damage. Regaining health from the water surface or spinning hearts is ok.
- No activating the motion of any moving platform except ones that have an unchangeable central position
- No use of Wet-Dry World's water-level-changing things
- You can't touch Dorrie (the plesiosaur in Hazy Maze Cave) or any penguins
- No talking to any characters except Bowser and MIPS. This includes Lakitu, but level intros that are not specifically tied to any character are allowed.
- No use of updrafts
- No touching or fighting any enemies
- No enemies are allowed to die, even if it's not your fault that it died. Spinies are excluded, and you're allowed to touch Thwomps, Grindels, and Spindel.
- You can't use pipes in Tiny-Huge Island
- You must get 15 stars before entering Dire Dire Docks, and you must get the submarine star.
- No use of savestates, cheat codes, hacks, or crooked cartridge tricks.

If any rules are broken, you must reset the game.

The goal is to beat the game and collect all 39 possible stars within the limitations.
