FDS is short for "Family Computer Disk System". The Family Computer is the Japanese equivalent of the NES and it had an extension, which let it read discs.
The Japanese release of SMB2 was for the FDS, but was considered too hard and too similiar to SMB1, so the rest of the world got a reskinned version of Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic that has been called SMB2 instead.
