Super Mario Bros Super Show? - Count Koopula + Club Mario - 1991 VHS with vintage commercials
Happy Halloween! I've got both a trick and a treat for you today.
The treat: this is an authentic VHS recording of a 1991 broadcast airing of the Super Mario Bros Super Show. The episode is Count Koopula, with the original cover version of "Thriller" and all the 90s commercials intact. This aired on WPGH Fox 53 in Pittsburgh, PA.
But here's the trick: live-action Mario and Luigi are nowhere to be seen... instead you get Club Mario! A totally radical, satellite-surfing bogus journey with Tommy Treehugger and Co-M.C. After the show's initial airing, the networks decided to replace the Captain Lou and Danny Wells segments with whatever this thing is. On Fridays, you'd get Tammy Treehugger and Evil Erik instead of the main dudes, to go along with the Legend of Zelda cartoon.
This is not easy to find, as the official DVD release only featured the "real" live-action segments, and this is mostly lost to time. So enjoy this super bodacious time capsule into the early 90s with CLUB MARIO!
