Live recording/streaming, gameplay and commentary done by me! Here's my first-time runthrough of Super Mario RPG for the Switch. My overall feelings of this game are pretty positive, but my chief complaint was undoubtedly going to be the difficulty. This challenge was one of my attempts to address it since I have played this game to death back when I was younger. Hence, the no armor challenge is definitely a way to access the game's "Hard Mode". In many cases, armor only boosts your defense and Magic Defense, forcing the player to really get that timing down for the timed defense and it was a really fun and sometimes lethal experience that I wanted to share with you all. I've even decided to avoid too much level grinding just to see how much of the difficulty envelope I can push.
There is one thing that will likely kill you at least once in this game if you aren't expecting it. Special enemies are a nice hidden element, that I'd love to see Nintendo and Square possibly do something with in a future update, like a mode where you'll fight ONLY Special enemies. That would be quite frightening, but a good way to bump up the challenge for future playthroughs, but maybe a bit excessive. In any case, I hope you'll enjoy my first day with this very well-done remake and look forward to covering things in better detail soon after!
