The fans have long abandoned the stadium, and the cool afternoon breeze is slowly evacuating the lingering aroma of the now empty Cracker Jack boxes, and I sit here in my seat trying to find the words to describe what I just saw. Not since the Mighty Casey proved himself human have fans been as devastated by the outcome of a game as the Rambler fans are of this one!
After beating the Sawteeth in the last game the Rambler offense exploded out of the gate seemingly scoring at will. Their bats weren't just meeting the ball, they were punishing the ball. The Ramblers seemed to be a team on a mission and that mission was to put this one away early. They were going to answer all those nagging questions that seem to be following them through every stadium they traveled to. The Dallas Ramblers were going to add their name to championship contention once and for all, OR WOULD THEY?
The victims of the Rambler Rampage were going to be none other then the Grapplers. These 2 teams tangled in the preseason and the Ramblers were able to tack 6 runs on the Grapplers over the course of 5 innings and it looked like they would be able to repeat that type of production, but the Grapplers were not about to "go gently into that good night." Lead by their super star 3rd baseperson Ali Finderre, the Grapplers do the unthinkable, the unimaginable, and ultimately the undeniable.
