Super Smash Bros. 4 for 3DS - Mario Guide & Moveset!

First things first, let’s go over Mario’s Moveset. He has his neutral attacks or Jabs, up tilt, forwald tilt, and down tilt, up smash, forward smash down smash, neutral Special, down special, Up special, side special, down taunt, side taunt, and up taunt, down air, up air, forward air, and back air, and then his Final Smash. He also has his down throw, Up throw, forward throw, and back throw.
Mario’s down throw is deadly, it combos very easily. His up tilt has so little knockback at low percent that your opponent will be subject to multiple of these without being able to getout, unless they have good DI, or directional influence. Directional influence is an old term used to describe the directional input of knock back caused by your opponents moves. In this case, your opponent should DI to the right to get out of the Up tilt combos.
Marios Side B or Cape is probably the best edge guarding technique Mario has, especially since you can no longer grab the ledge to kill someone in the game, and multiple people can grab the ledge. The cape can turn people around, switch their momentum, and even reflect projectiles. This is especially important on opponents like little Mac, who suffers greatly on the edge because ofhis terrible recovery options.
Let’s talk about Marios forward air. He swings his fist in a curve downward, similar to how he did in the other Smash bros. This means this can combo into a meteor smash, if you hit with the sweet spot. This move is amazing when handled correctly, but in most cases it’s high risk high reward because it is a relatively slow move. It has a strong hitbox, so you’ll be able to challenge other moves with it, like fox or falcos side specials.
WAIT A SECOND. WHAT WAS THAT? Oh yeah, Mario doesn’t have the best recovery in the game, but on stages where there are edges, he can recover from a very low distance. He can jump off the wall and turn around with a special move such as side b, or neutral b, or you can simply up b to the ledge. Pretty cool
Now let’s get into the glory battle.
I will be doing an in depth character analysis for both casual and advanced players, and will be going over the various techniques that can be used in this Smash game. Leave requests for the first one you would like to see!
