Super Smash Bros. for Wii U - Jun 16 15 A
All right, I got the clips I wanted, and I'll be putting up the second Final Smash Montage very soon, probably tomorrow. I have just a little bit more for the Screen KOs as well. I haven't gotten a lot of Replays from people though, at least not as much as I used to. It's very hard to do this alone.
I was asked to go through each of the DLC characters, now that there are four total. Normally, I would have five matches a video unless one or more was really laggy, but these mostly went by without a hitch, so the video is shorter than normal. Except for Mewtwo, this will be the first time I use any of these characters in an online battle.
Match #1
Mewtwo
Skyloft
We’ll begin with Mewtwo, who’s part of what I suspect will be a one-sided conquest. Mewtwo functions much like he did in Melee, with his weaknesses being his being flung further than a character of his weight as well as his situational special moves, but for this game, his attacks have improved greatly, with more damage, faster execution, and higher launching power. Him being a psychic character, his throws are also very nice.
Match #2
Lucas
Wily's Castle
Like with Mewtwo, Lucas also has strong throws being a psychic character, which is advantageous when people take cover behind Yellow Devil. Lucas is a special move clone of Ness, retaining most of his moves from Brawl but has different regular attacks. The PK Freeze is much faster and has better range than PK Flash (or even the PK Freeze from Brawl). His PK Fire is still a single-shot thing, and his PK Thunder can still pass through enemies, but Lucas has to face the projectile to absorb with PSI Magnet; he will no longer turn around.
Match #3
Roy (Fire Emblem)
Norfair
Roy is a character who doesn't have very much mobility in the air, like Little Mac. This means, like Little Mac, the stage he's on will affect how he plays dramatically. Unlike Little Mac, Roy has some good moves in the air and can deal with airborne opponents. On a stage like Norfair, which doesn't have much solid ground, I was in for a bad surprise when I found out that Roy's recovery was not quite like Marth's, and I screwed up big time here. Apparently, you can change the direction of Roy's up special in midair, but I didn't know that when I played this.
Match #4
Ryu
Luigi's Mansion
Ryu is the only non-returning DLC character so far. Being THE iconic fighting game character, he has the gimmick of having light or heavy attacks depending on if the button is lightly tapped or pressed harder (much like a light hop or a big jump in a platforming game). He also has at least four heavier versions of his special moves: A bigger Hadoken comes from a quarter circle forward, an even bigger, red Hadoken comes from a half circle forward, a powerful Shoryuken results from a Dragon Punch motion, and a half circle backwards gives you a stronger Tatsumaki Senpyukyaku (also known as a Hurricane Kick). He also has a combo-centric style, which I wouldn't be able to do.
