Super Turrican - Part 1: Quest to Free Katakis
1Super Turrican is a 1993 Run 'n Gun game released on the SNES developed by the German branch of Factor 5; the same team behind such games like Star Wars Rogue Squadron Trilogy / Battle for Naboo on the N64, The Great Giana Sisters on Amiga, and having a helping hand on sound compression for Resident Evil 2 on the N64.
Super Turrican had a slightly troubled production cycle where the cartridge space had been revised, therefore some levels and bosses were cut at the last minute. Despite the missing content, Super Turrican was a moderate success in NA & Germany. (Not so much in Japan as this was the only Turrican game released there)
The story takes place on November of the stardate 2751.
The once peaceful world of Katakis has been invaded by a tyrannical force known as The Machine.
Desperate pleas for help reached the Earth Freedom Forces ship, Avalon 1. The Space Marines onboard answers the call and head to the outer edge of the Milky Way where Katakis is to liberate the planet from The Machine.
