Superman Analogue: Golden Gail

Original Text: I'm behind, so let's talk about another deconstructed female #Shazam based #SupermanAnalogue , Golden Gail from Black Hammer!
I will lead that I have only read the first 2 trades. I intend to read more but I am behind in every aspect of my life it seems.
ANYWAY: Golden Gail is a nod to Shazam/Captain Marvel/Mary Marvel, down to saying the name of the wizard that gave her her powers is how she activates them. She has some similarities to Mighty Man in that the transformed state of the character is forever unchanging.
When we meet her, Gail is a 55 year old woman who became trapped in her powered form as a result of the big battle against an evil god that set the story in motion. Also, the surviving heroes are all trapped in a Podunk town from the Twilight Zone, so she's especially put upon.
In the series, she's embittered at having her life stripped away from her. She drinks and smokes but the town just sees a little girl doing that. She wants adult relationships but others balk at this because she appears to be just a child (even those that know the truth)
And this because she had given up her mission of doing good before the story began. She started a Captain Marvel style family to carry on her work, syphoning off her powers. Then she retired but was called back for one last mission when it looked like the world was going end.
She had started to make a life for herself away from being a hero. She had started a relationship with her reformed nemesis, Sherlock Frankenstein, a Sivanna expy. But all of that was lost to her and now she's eternally a young girl.
At the moment, Gail is my favorite character in the book. I'm still early in, but I see why it has gotten great praise. Can't wait to read more!
Also, this is kind of an obvious part, but I should note that the dynamic for the character is a reversal of the classic #Shazam situation, where its an adult who turns into a super powered child, and in this case is now trapped in that form.
