The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is a rail shooter video game developed and published by Supermassive Games for the PlayStation VR2. It was released on 16 March 2023. It is a spin-off of The Dark Pictures Anthology and features the player riding a horror-themed roller coaster.

Sadly this one DOES NOT live up to Rush of Blood in any way.

REVIEW Below ⬇️⬇️⬇️

My Thoughts on the Game, I am about 3/4 of the way through the main story which does have branching paths and different objectives to add some replay value and that is appreciated.

So far I feel the game is more of the same from RUSH OF BLOOD overall, however it has much less compelling characters and story to drive the player forward. Overall this feels more like an arcade shooter than a narrative adventure. The game becomes repetitive and boring within the first level or 2 and while I have only played through 6 of the 10, unless the final 4 are 10/10 outstanding the game is a dud in my opinion.

The graphics are okay they do feel more like a psvr 1 game, just a bit cleaner, not quite the same level as what I've seen from other PSVR2 games. I experienced NO motion sickness and there is a good sense of speed at times which was nice.

The enemies are just bullet sponges and at times it feels like there is no way to avoid taking damage even if you never miss a single shot or round from the chamber.

The jump scares are effective at most times, it definitely can have some moments that will scare you or at least have you on edge.

The haptics in the headset at one or two points in the game are absolutely next level as far as immersion goes and you can actually for just a second, almost feel like its really happening to you.
Its hard to explain w/o giving anything away but if you play the game you will know what I am referring to.

Id suggest waiting to pick it up for $20 or less, at $40 I cannot recommend anyone buy it.

It just fails to capture that same magic the first one had which would have you rushing to invite a friend over to see what VR could be, we deserved better here more than half a decade later.... shame.

5/10 - Overall an average experience that misses the mark set by the original PSVR 1 game, while not a direct sequel it is a spiritual successor to Rush of Blood, and as an avid PSVR fan since the lauch back in 2016, I am truly let down by this title. Its an average game but it should have and could have been so much more.
