Sword of the Sea, developed by Giant Squid, is a visually stunning game where players explore a world where the land flows like waves, using a "Hoversword" to surf across shifting dunes and discover a lost civilization. It's a spiritual adventure where the player, as the Wraith, aims to restore life to a desolate world by bringing back aquatic life and uncovering the secrets of a buried sea. The game features a unique art style, combining elements from Giant Squid's previous titles like Abzû and The Pathless, and is set to release on August 19 for PlayStation 5 (as part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog) and PC.
Giant Squid, the developer behind the relaxing underwater exploration game ABZÛ and adventure game The Pathless, has presented a new clip showcasing the fluid movement from their latest project. The controllable character performs dynamic surfing on a hoversword over moving terrain, which is quite impressive.
Concept:The game world is a vast, flowing desert where the terrain is constantly shifting, resembling a sea.
Gameplay:Players surf across these shifting landscapes on the Hoversword, which combines the feel of a snowboard, skateboard, and hoverboard, allowing for high speeds and tricks.
Story:The player embodies the Wraith, tasked with restoring life to a desolate world by unveiling an ancient sea and its secrets, hidden within ruins and tombs.
Sword of the Sea is the game that they are working on, which is “an atmospheric adventure with highspeed movement inspired by skateboarding games.” In the game, you will surf across surreal and ever-changing landscapes, such as sand, lava, ice, and more, to find a lost ocean teeming with life.
