4,034This is not meant to be controversial, although the topic is sometimes debated with heated fervor. Just my perspective on the practice of HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), as well as the benefits and limitations of sparring.
Of course it all depends on your personal interests and goals. Some folks just want some fun exercise with swords, others want to develop a high level of skill to compete in tournaments and/or deepen their understanding of historical combat. Or maybe you enjoy the community aspect of it. Whatever it may be, there is plenty to explore and experience.
